after MIA-ing for 8 weeks, im back to photo-hunting! :D

Festa San Juang & San Pedro

Light of Hope  :)

this was taken during Festa San Juang (Fiesta of St John), June last year

fyi, it’s a-week-long traditional festival celebrated by da fishing community in Portuguese Settlement, Malacca where residents light up candles in their homes in da evening. 

and children cladding in green hold candles which symbolise purity and innocence, spread the light throughout the settlement.

it’s actually a prelude to Festa San Pedro (Fiesta of St Peter) which commemorates  the Feast Day of St Peter, the patron saint of the fishermen. 

and da community celebrates da festival with boat decoration competition, live band performance and traditional dances.
